Warnings and contraindications

Preliminary information

This nutraceutical food supplement is not a medicine, does not require a doctor's prescription and does not replace the diagnosis or treatment of your urologist or general physician. If you live with pre-existing urological conditions or take chronic medication, kindly consult a healthcare professional before starting.

When to consult your doctor before use

Even though Adenofrin is a food supplement based on food-grade botanical extracts, certain situations require prior medical assessment:

  • Active alpha-blocker therapy (tamsulosin, alfuzosin, silodosin, doxazosin). Possible potentiation of effect and excessive blood pressure reduction during the first weeks — kindly monitor your readings and report any dizziness.
  • 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors therapy (finasteride, dutasteride). Saw Palmetto acts through a similar mechanism: doubling the action without urological supervision is not recommended.
  • Oral anticoagulants (acenocoumarol, warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, dabigatran) or antiplatelet agents (aspirin, clopidogrel): possible potentiation of effect.
  • Elevated PSA pending evaluation or diagnosed prostate cancer. Saw Palmetto can slightly modify PSA values: kindly discuss with your urologist before starting the course.
  • Active hormonal therapy (testosterone replacement, antagonists, synthetic hormones): the formula contains actives with mild endocrine effect.
  • Surgical procedure scheduled in the next two weeks — please discontinue the supplement at least 14 days before the procedure to avoid interactions with anaesthesia and pre/post-operative medication.

Possible drug interactions

  • Anticoagulants / antiplatelet agents: Saw Palmetto and Mucuna Pruriens can mildly potentiate the effect. Kindly watch for gum bleeding, skin haematomas or epistaxis.
  • Urological alpha-blockers: possible excessive blood pressure reduction, particularly on changing posture. Report dizziness or morning weakness.
  • 5-α-reductase inhibitors (finasteride, dutasteride): overlap of mechanism. Kindly discuss with your urologist before combining.
  • Diuretics: possible mild increase in diuresis during the first weeks due to the action of Pumpkin Seed.

When to call a doctor or emergency helpline

  • Acute urinary retention with severe pelvic pain and inability to pass urine for over 6 hours.
  • Macroscopic haematuria (visible blood in urine) accompanied by fever or chills.
  • Allergic reaction with widespread urticaria, swelling of lips/tongue, breathing difficulty.
  • Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or rapidly developing general malaise.

In all these cases, kindly stop intake immediately and call the emergency helpline (102) or visit the nearest hospital emergency department. Keep the pack with the legible batch number to share with the treating doctor.

Storage

Store the pack at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children under 18 years. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage indicated on the label. Once the expiry date has passed, kindly do not use the product.
